Man shot west of Idaho Falls

Shooting Investigation 

5/11/19

 

  Bonneville County Sheriff's Deputies, Idaho State Police, and Idaho Falls Ambulance responded to Highway 20, West of Idaho Falls near 65th West at 6:45 p.m. A 911 call was received reporting an adult male with a gunshot wound in need of medical assistance.

 The victim was transported by private vehicle and met Idaho Falls Ambulance and Deputies near 35th West and Highway 20.

 The male was transported to EIRMC by Idaho Falls Ambulance. The shooting incident was at a rural location West of Idaho Falls off of Hyway 20. All parties involved are accounted for.  Bonneville County Sheriff's Office Detectives are processing the scene of the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

News Release (Update from 5/11/19)

   The victim from the shooting incident Michael A. Ephram of Idaho Falls age 23 died on 5/11/19 from the injuries sustained in the shooting incident

  The circumstances of the event involved two separate parties shooting guns near 75 West in the area of the old National Guard Training Range.  Both parties were target shooting in slightly different areas a few hundred feet apart.  Michael A. Ephram was outside the vehicle and was struck in the head with a bullet and did not regain consciousness.  Rounds also struck the vehicle that Michael A. Ephram and his companions were in. 

   The individual that fired the rounds that struck Michael A. Ephram and the related vehicle has been cooperative in the investigation and has been in contact with Detectives.  The preliminary investigation indicates that the incident was not intentional.  The Bonneville County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has been consulted and will review the case when it is completed. 

   This case is still an active investigation and Bonneville Detectives are processing the evidence, and continuing with related interviews and details.
