Law Enforcement team:
Our Law Enforcement Team is responsible for patrol and emergency response throughout the 1900 square miles of Bonneville County, which includes the cities of Idaho Falls, Ammon, Ucon, Iona, Ririe, Swan Valley and Irwin. BCSO provides full Law Enforcement services for the City of Ammon and Iona, Bonneville School District 93, and provides security for the Bureau of Reclamation at Ririe Reservoir and Idaho Falls Community Hospital. In addition, the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for all Search and Rescue (SAR) Operations within the county and Deputies work and train closely with volunteer community members of the SAR Team. Primary duties involve:
- Responding to general emergencies related to crime, public safety, traffic accidents, investigations and disturbances
- Patroling roadways, neighborhoods, businesses and communities
- Preparing comprehensive reports and documentation of activities
- Daily interaction with the community handling citizen complaints, public safety concerns, problem solving, crisis intervention, and safety education
- Working with team members in response to emergencies and hazards to the public and maintaining readiness with available tools and resources to be effective in those efforts
- Assisting with civil process, court orders, and enforcement of laws
- Effective inter-personnel communication with the public, suspects, persons in crisis with substance abuse or mental health issues, and people acting out in a violent manner
