PRESS RELEASE

Now through the end of May the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is participating with numerous other Law Enforcement Agencies across the state and the Idaho Office of Highway Safety in putting extra patrols on our roads looking for seatbelt violations.  Memorial Day Weekend is the traditional start to summer activities and puts more travelers on our roads, which increases our need as motorists to be safe.  The Sheriff’s Office stresses the importance of utilizing the safety equipment in your vehicle at all times as we’ve seen the devastating results of crashes where a just by wearing a seatbelt could’ve prevented a death.  Your chances of severe injury or death dramatically drop when the proper use of seatbelts and child safety seats is in play.

Please build a habit of seatbelt use and safe driving, always pay attention and make driving safe a priority, never drive intoxicated, and always obey the speed limit and traffic control devices.  It could mean the difference in saving your life or someone else’s.
