PRESS RELEASE
RE: Attempted vehicle burglary
On July 5th, 2019, at approximately 1700 hours, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the TJ Maxx parking lot in Ammon to a report of an attempted vehicle burglary. Upon arrival a Deputy spoke with a female victim who advised she was in her vehicle when a Male subject tried to get into the locked passenger door. The Male began knocking on the windows of the vehicle and the victim saw another Male approaching so she drove away from them fearing for her safety.
The victim was able to watch the suspect vehicle from a distance until Deputies arrived and she pointed them out. As a Deputy approached the vehicle he could see three occupants inside and upon giving commands to the driver to step out he took off at a high rate of speed through the parking lot.
Two Deputies attempted to catch up to the suspect vehicle as they observed it going at a high rate of speed and into oncoming traffic on Sunnyside and then South on 25th E. Due to the heavy amount of traffic and dangerous driving behavior of the suspects, Deputies discontinued pursuit and had dispatch notify surrounding agencies to be on the lookout.
A while later Deputies were notified that Bingham and Bannick County Deputies had been involved in a pursuit with a vehicle matching the description of the suspects in the Inkom area and eventually took custody of 2 Male suspects. Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies are meeting with Bannock County Deputies and the investigation is continuing.
No further information is available at this time.
