PRESS RELEASE
RE: Wanted man arrested on Benton St.
Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies and Idaho Falls Police assigned to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) served a search warrant on a Benton St. apartment late yesterday afternoon in search of 28 year old Jordan R. Honeycutt. Honeycutt was being sought for multiple Felony Drug Charges and Active Warrants as part of an ongoing investigation by the SIU Detectives Unit. Due to the proximity to neighboring apartments and information about Mr. Honeycutt’s charges, the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team was called to assist with resources that would help keep the area safe from the apartment in question.
Deputies made contact with the apartment complex around 5pm, taking steps to notify and clear residents in close proximity to where Honeycutt was believed to be. As Deputies made contact at the suspects apartment, two individuals cooperated with commands from Deputies and exited. Both were detained on scene while further attempts to contact Mr. Honeycutt continued.
A short while later, after Mr. Honeycutt refused commands to exit the apartment, Deputies deployed gas irritants and a K-9 and began their search of the premises. The K-9 was able to locate Mr. Honeycutt hiding in a closet under some clothing as SWAT Team Deputies were clearing rooms inside the apartment. After the K-9 bit Mr. Honeycutt’s leg, he cooperated with commands from Deputies and was taken into custody.
Mr. Honeycutt was transported to the hospital and treated for minor leg injuries sustained from the K-9 bite. After his release from the hospital, Deputies transported Mr. Honeycutt to the Bonneville County Jail where he was booked on a Felony Warrant for Failure to Comply with Drug Court, 2 Felony Warrants for Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and a Misdemeanor Warrant for Petit Theft. Honeycutt was also booked on a new Felony charge for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, stemming from a gun located in the apartment where he was apprehended, as well as Misdemeanor Resisting Arrest.
One of the two residents that exited the apartment was released at the scene, while the other, 22 year old Rebecca L. Burnside of Blackfoot, was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on a Felony Agent’s Warrant from Idaho Probation and Parole.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank neighboring residents in the Benton St. area for their cooperation and patience during this incident that helped our Deputies keep the area as safe as possible from potential harm.
