RE: Passed out driver arrested on Felony Drug and Gun charges

A man found passed out in his vehicle in the middle of the road was arrested early this morning after being found in possession of a gun and Illegal drugs.  A reporting party contacted dispatch just before 2:00 am advising of a car in the left-hand turn lane of Lincoln Rd. and N. Yellowstone Hwy whose driver appeared to be passed out behind the wheel.  Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies and an Idaho Falls Police Officer were in the area and located the vehicle with the driver passed out in the driver’s seat and still in drive.

The driver, 26 year old Skyler S. Standley, was awakened by a Deputy who detained him after seeing a large amount of pills scattered in the front seat.  When asked about the pills, Standley told Deputies they were “dirty 30s” containing fentanyl and he had smoked some of them earlier in the day.  Deputies searched Standley’s vehicle and located a drug pipe, along with over 7 grams of Methamphetamine, 3 grams of Marijuana wax, and a total of 179 suspected Fentanyl pills.  Standley was also in possession of a small .22 calibre revolver found in his pocket.

Mr. Standley was transported to the Bonneville County Jail where he was booked Possession of Fentanyl Pills and Possession of Methamphetamine, both Felonies, and a Misdemeanor charge for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  While on scene Deputies found that Standley had been previously convicted of a Felony Drug Possession crime prohibiting him from being in possession of a firearm.  As a result, Standley was also booked for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
