UPDATED NEWS RELEASE

RE: Officer Involved Shooting

 

    The East Idaho Critical Incident Task Force continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.  Again, at approximately 3:30am yesterday morning Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputy Patrick Crapo checked on a vehicle at the Gem State Park on S. 35th W. occupied by a female adult.  Deputy Crapo made contact with the female, identifying her as 38-year-old Nicholle Lynn Lockyer of Bonneville County. 

 

    Deputy Crapo returned to his patrol car and had dispatch check the status of Ms. Lockyer, dispatch ultimately advised she was wanted for a Felony Probation Violation out of Bingham County.  Ms. Lockyer had been on Felony Probation in Bingham County due to a previous conviction for Grand Theft. 

 

     A second Deputy, Kyle Penney arrived, both approached the vehicle to arrest Ms. Lockyer for the warrant.  After ignoring commands to step out, Ms. Lockyer accelerated and struck Deputy Penney with her vehicle. Deputy Penney sustained minor injuries.  Shots were fired by both Deputies striking Ms. Lockyer. Both Deputies began immediate first aid and lifesaving measures until an ambulance arrived and transported her to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. 

 

    Task force detectives continue to evaluate evidence from the scene and investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.  Additional information will be released as the investigation progresses and in accordance with critical incident protocols.

NEWS RELEASE

     On March 30th 2023, at approximately 3:30am, a Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputy checked on a vehicle parked at the Gem State Park located at 8633 S. 35th W.  After contacting an adult female in the vehicle, the Deputy ran a check through dispatch who advised the female was wanted on an active Felony Warrant. 

 

     After a second Deputy arrived to assist, shots were fired and the female was injured.  Both Deputies rendered first aide until an Ambulance from Idaho Falls Fire arrived and transported her to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC).  The female succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. 

 

      There were no other occupants in the vehicle.  The Eastern Idaho Critical Incident Task Force was activated and are currently investigating the incident.  As the investigation is in its early stages, we anticipate more information to be available in the near future.
