RE:  Traffic stop leads to Felony Arrest

An early morning traffic stop last Friday resulted in the Felony arrest of an intoxicated driver.  Just after 12:30am Friday morning, a Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a vehicle driven by 18 year old Brody Michael Sweet near Holmes and 12th St. for a traffic violation.  Sweet was traveling with 20 year old Davon Steverson and upon making contact the Deputy could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle.

While the Deputy began Field Sobriety Testing on Mr. Sweet, a Deputy with a K-9 arrived and indicated to the presence of illegal drugs after a free air search around the vehicle.  Subsequently Deputies located Drug Paraphernalia, Alcoholic Beverages, approximately 225 grams of THC wax and Marijuana, and just under a gram of Coccaine.

Mr. Steverson was cited and released at the scene for Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Marijuana.  Mr. Sweet was transported to the Bonneville County Jail and booked for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanors for Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving Under the Influence under 21 years of age.
