SWAT

The Sheriff's Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) was formed to provide the ability to respond to high-risk situations that were beyond the resources and capabilities of a patrol team.

The goal of the SWAT Team is to resolve the situation safely without injury to the problem subject, the citizens of Bonneville County or SWAT members. The team members are all assigned as patrol deputies or detectives and they volunteer for the opportunity to try out to become a member. They receive intensive specialty training, along with regular updated training to stay proficient.

The Sheriff's Office SWAT team is structured into the following elements that work together to solve today's complex problems:

  • Special Weapons and Tactics
  • Crisis Negotiations Team
  • Tactical Medical
  • Precision Shooting Team
  • High Risk Warrants
