Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies are currently investigating a report of a threat near the Bonneville High School campus, temporarily placing the campus and surrounding buildings into a Hall Check status (Staff and Students stay inside buildings and classrooms, school operations continue). Deputies were sent to the area at 11am and began checking the area as a safety precaution, finding no active violence or issue. School operations continued through the Hall Check status which was lifted approximately 45 minutes later.
A Hall Check status is one of four procedures schools utilize for potential emergencies that allows for teaching and operations to continue while students and staff stay in buildings and classrooms. Other procedural school activations include Evacuation, Reverse Evacuation, and Lockdown.
Information obtained at this point indicate the threat is part of a swatting call that originated outside of the area with no identified connection to Bonneville High School or our local area. Deputies have since learned this threat is similar to swatting calls to schools in other parts of the region. The investigation is continuing and no further information is available.
