Funeral services for Ret. Shr. Stommel will be held this coming Saturday Oct. 25th at 11am at the Panorama Hills Ward of the LDS Church located at 7555 N. 55th E. Idaho Falls, ID. A viewing is scheduled prior to the services that day and on Friday evening at The Brickyard next to Wood Funeral Home on S. Ammon Rd. The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is sad to announce the passing of Retired Bonneville County Sheriff Byron R. Stommel today at his home outside of Idaho Falls. Shr. Stommel served a great deal of his Law Enforcement career with the Idaho Falls Police Department before being elected Sheriff of Bonneville County in 1993. At the time of his retirement in 2007, Shr. Stommel was the longest serving Sheriff of Bonneville County and his years of service to the community left a proud legacy.
Our thoughts are with the Stommel family mourning the loss of a colleague, mentor, and friend to the BCSO Team.
