NEWS RELEASE
A Shelley man was arrested overnight after fleeing from Deputies and crashing his vehicle. At approximately 10:30pm a Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputy was traveling on Sunnyside Rd. when a vehicle with two occupants passed at a high rate of speed going the same direction. The Deputy activated his emergency lights to attempt a traffic stop, reaching speeds in excess of 70MPH, however the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed east bound running the red light at Ammon and Sunnyside Rd. For safety reasons, the Deputy discontinued the pursuit and advised area patrol units the last known direction of travel.
Moments later, the Deputy checked the area near the Ammon Cemetery on E. Sunnyside Rd. finding the vehicle had lost control negotiating a curve and crashed. Both occupants of the vehicle had fled from the scene on foot, however arriving Deputies quickly located a juvenile male who was the passenger in the car. Deputies were told both the juvenile and the driver, 20-year-old Brigham Ricks Frost, had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. A short while later Deputies located Frost in the area of the crash, and he was taken into custody. Deputies located approximately 30 grams of Marijuana inside the crashed vehicle.
The juvenile suffered minor injuries and was checked by Idaho Falls Ambulance personnel at the scene before being released to parents. Mr. Frost also suffered minor injuries and was transported by Deputies to Idaho Falls Community Hospital for a medical clearance and to collect blood evidence for a DUI investigation. Frost was then taken to the Bonneville County Jail where he was booked on Felony Charges for Eluding an Officer, Leaving the Scene of an Injury Crash, and Injury to a Child. Frost was also booked for Misdemeanor Driving Under the Influence and Possession of Marijuana.
