Burglary and Agg Battery Arrests

January 15th, 2026

NEWS RELEASE

Two men were arrested last night (Jan. 14th) in connection with a Burglary and Aggravated Battery at a Bonneville County residence. Just after 10pm Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 9000 S. Block of 5th West where a man was reportedly attacked by suspects taking items from a trailer.

Deputies arrived on scene and learned the victim was alerted by his doorbell camera to the presence of people wearing masks in front of his house trying to open the front door. When he went outside to confront one of them, an unseen suspect hit the victim in the back of the head with a hammer. The victim told Deputies he attempted to fight the suspect until he could get back into his house. The victim was able to retrieve his handgun and told Deputies he observed an additional two unknown suspects outside also carrying hammer like objects. The victim told Deputies he fired several rounds in the direction of the suspects as they ran back to an awaiting vehicle and drove away.

The victim discovered a trailer parked on the property had been broken into and told Deputies he was having a dispute over property inside the trailer with a Ryan Hubble, an inmate at the Bonneville County Jail. The victim believed Hubble may be involved in the attempted theft and attack.

Deputies were able to review video conversations from the Jail between Hubble and another man shortly before the attack talking about the victim and providing his address. From those conversations Deputies identified 19-year-old Brian A. Grimes as a suspect and began searching for him and his vehicle.

At approximately 11:40pm, a Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputy located Grimes’ vehicle traveling on Sunnyside Rd. near Nathan Dr. and initated a traffic stop. Deputies contacted the driver, identifying him as Grimes, and a male passenger identified as 23-year-old Kaden R. Taylor. Deputies also observed masks and clothing matching the description given by the victim in the vehicle with tools and other items believed to be stolen.

Both Grimes and Taylor were taken into custody and transported to the Bonneville County Jail where they were booked on Felony charges for Burglary and Aggravated Battery.

The victim was treated at the scene by Idaho Falls Ambulance for minor injures received during the attack. Deputies are continuing to investigate and potential charges for others involved are pending at this time.
