RE: Jackknife Rd. Incident
Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies continue to investigate a domestic incident that took place this morning on the Jackknife Rd. in southeast Bonneville County, less than a mile from the Wyoming border. At 8:06am Bonneville County Dispatchers received a 911 call from a man indicating he just shot his wife. The man identified himself as 43-year-old Christopher Moon and indicated he had a gun and was going to take his own life. Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies and SWAT Team responded to the area along with Lincoln County Wyoming Sheriff’s Office and Star Valley Ambulance.
As Deputies arrived to the area two vehicles were located parked on the side of the road that belonged to Christopher and his wife, 23-year-old Cassandra Moon. Deputies established brief contact with Christopher over the phone, attempting to convince him to surrender peacefully. Moments later Christopher was observed using the gun to shoot himself. Deputies approached the vehicles finding both Christopher and Cassandra deceased from apparent gun shot wounds.
There were no other people on the scene and no other injuries. Deputies spent several hours collecting evidence from the scene and are continuing to investigate.

NEWS RELEASE
Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies are currently investigating an incident on Jackknife Rd. in the Wayan, ID area of Bonneville County. Deputies were called to the area just after 8am this morning after receiving a 911 call about a disturbance with possible weapons involved. The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team was activated and also responded to the area along with Lincoln County Wyoming Sheriff’s Office and Star Valley Ambulance.
Currently the scene is safe and there is no danger to the public. While Detectives investigate the incident the Jackknife Rd. is closed from the State Line Rd. at the Wyoming border to the west.
