Seatbelt Mobilization

May 12th, 2026

NEWS RELEASE

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is taking part in a statewide mobilization to educate motorists about the importance of seatbelt usage. As part of this mobilization with the Idaho Office of Highway Safety and Law Enforcement from around the state, extra Deputies will be working high traffic areas from now through Memorial Day Weekend looking for aggressive driving and traffic violations.

While seatbelt usage is high among Idahoans, our Deputies still see instances where failure to do so results in serious injury and fatality crashes. Too often Deputies see unbuckled children who should be properly secured in a car seat or booster seat.

Speed and inattention are the two most common factors involved in crashes, but the use of a seatbelts make the difference in preventing severe injuries or fatalities in the aftermath. Build the good habit of wearing your seatbelt so you can take full advantage of the safety systems in your vehicle. Always properly secure children in car seats or booster seats to ensure their safety should a crash happen.
