NEWS RELEASE
Too often Aggressive Driving is a contributing factor in serious injury and fatal crashes. Deputies with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office frequently respond to motorists who ignore traffic laws and put everyone at an unnecessary risk, often times resulting in a crash. This is why our agency is participating with the Office of Highway Safety and Law Enforcement from across the state to look for and intercept Aggressive Drivers in our area.
Serious injury and fatality crashes significantly increase this time of year making safe driving habits and obeying traffic laws even more important. When drivers ignore traffic control devices, speed and tailgate, weave in and out of traffic, or make abrupt and improper lane changes, they sacrifice the safety of themselves and others. Driving aggressively just to save a few small moments never outweighs the amount of risk added to the situation.
Paying complete attention to your driving and obeying traffic laws is the safest and most efficient way to travel, even if it means being more patient with other drivers. Avoid distractions like cell phones and electronic devices, always wear a seatbelt and make sure children are properly restrained. Stay alert in construction zones and anywhere you see flashing emergency lights, tow trucks, first responders, and equipment.
Be smart about your driving habits and set the example for safe driving. For more information on safe driving habits visit www.shift-idaho.org.
