Hello all,
Police week begins on Monday with events all across the country recognizing Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty in 2023. In all, 282 heroes will be recognized at the National Law Enforcement Memorial Service next Wednesday, and a service recognizing Idaho’s fallen will be on Thursday in meridian at the Idaho Peace Officer Memorial.
Our annual memorial service will be held next Friday May 17th at 6pm in front of the courthouse and will include a presentation of colors, remarks from IFPD Chief Johnson and Bonneville County Sheriff Hulse, followed by a reading of the 76 names of Idaho’s fallen heroes and 5 K-9’s.
Three Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and one K-9 are among those names, the first of which being Dep. C. Neil Simpkins who was shot and killed 100 years ago on June 2nd, 1924 while attempting to serve a warrant on a suspect for bootlegging alcohol.
This service is open to the public and we hope to see all of you there to share in remembering our fallen and the families who were left behind. Please feel free to invite your friends and families.
