NEWS RELEASE
Each year our nation recognizes our fallen Law Enforcement Heroes on May 15th, National Peace Officer Memorial Day, as part of several events surrounding that day taking place in Washington D.C. traditionally known as Police Week. This year’s services will recognize 363 names of fallen heroes killed in the line of duty across the United States who were added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C.
Here in Idaho Falls a public memorial service is held each year to honor these fallen heroes and remember the families left behind. This years’ service will take place at the Bonneville County Courthouse, 605 N. Capital in Idaho Falls, on Friday May 15th at 6pm and is open to the public. The event begins with the posting of our nation’s colors by local Law Enforcement Honor Guard Teams and remarks from Bonneville County Sheriff Sam Hulse and Idaho Falls Police Chief Bryce Johnson, followed by the reading of names of Idaho’s 80 fallen heroes and 7 fallen K-9’s.
The public is invited to join our Law Enforcement partners in recognizing the sacrifice of these fallen heroes in service to their community and remembering their families who were left behind.
