March 31, 2025

NEWS RELEASE

Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man following a physical disturbance last Saturday afternoon (Mar. 29). Deputies were called to a residence in the 3000 E. block of Bergeson at 2:30pm to a report of a man and wife who had been physically fighting. Deputies arrived on scene, finding a neighbor tending to the female victim who had fled next door. The victim had several injuries and was bleeding from the head.

The victim’s husband, 40-year-old Garrett Allen Huserik, was spotted trying to run away from the residence but was quickly apprehended by Deputies and secured in a patrol car. Mr. Huserik was extremely intoxicated and had blood on his clothes and injuries to his hands. Huserik refused to answer any questions about the incident at that time.

Idaho Falls Ambulance responded to the scene and transported the victim to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for treatment due to multiple lacerations and injuries to the head and neck. Deputies were able to interview the victim who advised Mr. Huserik came to the residence uninvited and intoxicated. The victim was able to convince Huserik to leave, however he returned a short while later and went to the basement. When she confronted him, Huserik began hitting the victim causing her to grab a rubber mallet to defend herself. Mr. Huserik took the mallet away from her and hit her in the head with it multiple times. The victim said Huserik continued beating her, at one point attempting to strangle her and hold her down by putting his foot on her neck.

The victim told Deputies Mr. Huserik had previously been physical with her in the months prior that were not reported to Law Enforcement. Deputies were told Huserik was currently on Parole due to a number of convictions related to Driving Under the Influence and Aggravated Assault. Deputies were able to speak with children in the residence, finding they could hear the disturbance from inside a bedroom they had locked themselves in and at one point heard the victim yelling to call 911.

Huserik was transported to the Bonneville County Jail and booked on Felony Charges for Aggravated Assault, Domestic Battery w/Traumatic Injury in the Presence of a Child, and Attempted Strangulation. Deputies are continuing the investigation.

Edit: The altercation was between Mr. Huserik and his ex-spouse.
