Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested an Irwin man yesterday following a physical disturbance in a trailer. Deputies responded to an RV Park in the 3400 block of Swan Valley Hwy in Irwin just after noon to a report of an ongoing fight between persons living there in an RV trailer. As Deputies arrived, 32-year-old Jorge Alberto Mendoza Minero was reported as a suspect in the disturbance and stopped by a Deputy leaving the park in his vehicle.

From interviews with a female victim and Mr. Minero, Deputies were advised both had been living together for several months and a physical fight began early in the morning. Mr. Minero told Deputies the two had been fighting over money for a while and admitted to throwing items out of the RV, but not at the victim. Minero refused to answer when asked if the victim hit him or if he hit the victim at any time. Deputies learned from the victim that she woke up to Mr. Minero punching her in the head and eventually putting both hands around her throat. The victim also advised Mr. Minero bit her foot and struck her across the back with a skateboard before using the butt stock of a rifle to smash her foot. The victim said she had been trying to leave the trailer for a while, but Mr. Minero refused to let her. At one point during this disturbance, the victim told Deputies Mr. Minero pointed the rifle at her making threats to kill her if she called Law Enforcement.

Deputies observed injuries to Mr. Minero’s hands as well as multiple injuries to the victim consistent with information provided. A rifle that was also found in the RV was also collected by Deputies as evidence. Minero was placed under arrest and transported to the Bonneville County Jail where he was booked on Felony charges of Attempted Strangulation, Domestic Battery With Traumatic Injury, and Aggravated Assault.
