NEWS RELEASE
Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 33-year-old Travis Leroy Peasley yesterday afternoon (Feb. 18) on a traffic stop after he was observed throwing drugs out of his car. A Deputy was traveling behind Peasley on Wilson Dr. when he saw him open the driver door and throw a bag out of the window. As the Deputy initiated a traffic stop and contacted Peasley, he observed a female adult and two young children in the car along with a partially burnt Marijuana joint.
At first Peasley denied throwing anything out of the vehicle, but then admitted to the Deputy the bag contained a drug pipe. An arriving Deputy located the bag in the street, finding a broken glass pipe and approximately 1 gram of Methamphetamine. Deputies searched Mr. Peasley’s vehicle, seizing the partially burned Marijuana joint and finding no other illegal substances at that time. Occupants in the vehicle advised Deputies Mr. Peasley was actively smoking the Marijuana while driving just prior to being pulled over.
From Field Sobriety Testing and an evaluation by a Deputy trained in Drug Recognition, Deputies believed Mr. Peasley was too impaired to be driving and placed him under arrest. Mr. Peasley was transported to the hospital for an evidentiary blood draw before being taken to the Bonneville County Jail. Peasley was booked into jail for Felony Possession of Methamphetamine along with Misdemeanor charges for Driving Under the Influence, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and two counts of Injury to a Child.
