Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man yesterday morning (Oct 7th) after he had taken a pickup from a residence. Deputies were first called to Helios Ln. near Iona just before 6am where it was reported a man, later identified as 29-year-old Dylan Lutz, entered a residence but fled on foot once confronted. As Deputies arrived in the area, they located an unoccupied vehicle Lutz had driven to the area and began searching for him. A few minutes later a nearby resident reported their pickup and boat was stolen.
Deputies contacted the pickup owner who advised the pickup was taken just a few minutes after he went out to start it so it could warm up. As they were talking, the owner spotted the pickup driving away from the area toward Foothill Rd.
A Deputy was able to get behind the pickup and attempt a traffic stop however the suspect failed to yield and continued driving away from the area. A short distance later, the suspect pulled over on N. Foothill Rd. and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit the suspect was apprehended by Deputies and identified as the suspect who entered the residence on Helios Ln. During a search of Lutz, Deputies seized a small amount of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia.
Lutz was transported to the Bonneville County Jail where he was booked on Felony charges for Grand Theft and Possession of Methamphetamine, along with Misdemeanor charges for Eluding an Officer, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Entry.
