Impaired Driving Mobilization

May 3rd, 2024

NEWS RELEASE

RE: Impaired Driving Mobilization

Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies are participating in a statewide mobilization with the Idaho Office of Highway Safety to intercept impaired drivers this weekend. With assistance from the Office of Highway Safety, extra Deputies will be on duty responding to and looking for impaired drivers.

The majority of Idaho’s serious injury and fatal crashes in the last few years unfortunately involved impaired drivers as a contributing factor. Many of these incidents involved “buzzed” drivers, or individuals who took a chance because they felt ok to drive. Had these drivers made the decision to find a safe ride home the circumstances would most likely have been avoided.

Whatever your weekend plans are, celebrate responsibly and avoid getting behind the wheel of you’ve been drinking or using intoxicating substances. If you have time to make plans, you have time to plan for a safe ride home.

If you observe someone who is potentially impaired, be a good witness and call local Law Enforcement to report it. Witnesses can reach the Idaho State Police Dispatch by calling *ISP (*477) or Bonneville County Dispatch non-emergency number at 208-529-1200. If you feel the situation is an emergency call 911 immediately.
