NEWS RELEASE
Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man early New Years Day during a crash investigation at 49th S. and S. Holmes. Emergency personnel were dispatched to the crash just after 12:30am Thursday (Jan. 1st) and arrived to find two vehicles involved, one of which was driven by 36 year old Colby Nathan Clark of Bingham County. Deputies were told Clark’s vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with another vehicle.
As Deputies made contact with Clark they observed signs of intoxication as he was laying on the ground vomiting. Deputies attempted to help Clark to a gurney to be checked by Idaho Falls Ambulance personnel and he became very belligerent toward them. During this time Clark spit in the face of one of the Deputies and had to be restrained and transported to the hospital for a medical clearance.
At the hospital Clark continued to struggle and fight with Deputies and medical staff, during which time he bit one Deputy on the arm. While there Deputies were able to obtain a warrant for collection of a blood sample from Clark to determine his level of intoxication.
After being cleared by medical staff, Clark was transported to the Bonneville County Jail where he was booked on two Felony charges for Battery on an Officer. Deputies are continuing to investigate the crash and believe alcohol was a significant factor. Potential DUI charges are pending the results of blood testing.
