In September, the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office took part in the 4th annual Shield616 Idaho Border to Border Bike Ride to help raise funds to purchase safety equipment for local Law Enforcement. Multiple Law Enforcement Agencies were part of this year’s ride, gathering sponsors from each of their respective communities with the goal of making sure their Public Safety Professionals have access to proper safety gear.

Over the past three years the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office has been fortunate to receive enough sponsorships and support to purchase rifle rated ballistic armor for our Deputies. As this project continued into the September Border to Border Ride, our agency received a sponsorship donation of $3000 from the Greater Idaho Falls Police Foundation (GIFPF) to assist with the purchase of ballistic helmets for our Deputies. This donation considerably increases our ability to outfit Deputies with proper safety gear for daily operations in Bonneville County. “The safety of our Deputies is a priority, being able to provide good equipment for them to do their job effectively is a direct benefit to the public” said Sheriff Samuel Hulse. “We can’t thank the foundation enough for their support and for caring about the safety of their community.”

The Greater Idaho Falls Police Foundation was formed in 2020 by several business and community leaders who had a desire to make our community an even safer place to live, work, and play. The group shares ideas through discussions with local Law Enforcement to find ways they can provide extra resources and support to agencies responsible for public safety in the Greater Idaho Falls area. Donating to the Shield616 Idaho Border to Border Ride is but one of several charitable projects the foundation has been part of so far as they continue in their mission.
