February 25, 2026

NEWS RELEASE

Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 29-year-old Ryker Thomas Masson yesterday (Feb. 24) after he fled on foot from a traffic stop. Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle Masson was riding in near Broadway and Skyline Dr. at approximately 4:45pm when he exited the passenger side and fled on foot. At the time Deputies recognized Masson and knew he was wanted on two Felony Warrants for Probation Violations, stemming for previous drug related charges.

Deputies pursued Masson on foot through an empty lot next to nearby businesses to an alleyway where he eventually stopped running. In the process Deputies deployed a Taser while giving verbal commands to stop until Masson complied and was taken into custody. Masson was observed throwing items as he was running away that were recovered by responding officers. Among the items Deputies found a needle believed to be drug paraphernalia.

During the pursuit BCSO Deputies and Idaho Falls Police Officers responded to the area to assist. A Deputy that was part of the initial traffic stop lost footing while chasing Masson and fell on a concrete curb that caused him to break his arm. Idaho Falls Ambulance responded to the scene and the Deputy was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Masson was transported by Deputies to the hospital for a medical clearance before being taken to the Bonneville County Jail. Masson was booked on the two outstanding Felony Warrants and a Misdemeanor charge for Resisting Arrest.
