NEWS RELEASE
County Sheriff’s Office is joining Law Enforcement across Idaho to promote sober driving as part of celebrating American’s 250th anniversary. Now through the 4th of July weekend extra resources will be dedicated to intercepting drivers under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
In 2025, alcohol and drug impaired drivers contributed to one third of the fatality crashes in Bonneville County. In the past two months, Bonneville County Deputies have logged over 40 DUI cases from traffic stops and crashes and responded to countless reports of impaired drivers. Many of these crash related fatalities and incidents could have been prevented had drivers made a smart decision to avoid getting behind the wheel of a vehicle.
Taking part in this holiday enforcement campaign aligns with Idaho’s America 250 initiative, emphasizing that nothing is more patriotic than taking care of the people who live, work, and travel in our community. Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies encourage everyone to include having a designated driver as part of your plans and thanking them for stepping up to make sure everyone gets home safely. Taking the time to plan ahead can ensure your holiday celebration is filled with proud patriotic memories and not the aftermath of a tragedy.
