Aggressive Driving Mobilization

July 21, 2025

NEWS RELEASE

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is reminding motorists of the importance of safe driving. Aggressive and Inattentive Driving are two of the most common factors Deputies see in crash investigations that were likely avoidable. Aggressive driving is often a result of bad driver habits like speeding, ignoring traffic signs and signals, improper and abrupt lane changes, or weaving in and out of traffic. The aggressive drivers involved in crashes are typically in too big of a hurry and fail to realize the small insignificant amount of time they try to save results in a much larger delay because of the crash.

Speed limits and traffic control signs and signals are in place for the safe and smooth flow of traffic. Drivers who obey traffic laws help with the efficient movement of traffic. It’s crucial for drivers to be patient, driver defensively, and utilize good driving habits so everyone can get where they need to be.

To help educate motorists, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies are teaming up with Law Enforcement from around the state and the Idaho Office of Highway Safety to look for and intercept aggressive drivers. Now through the end of July, extra Deputies will be on patrol taking enforcement action for traffic violations and educating drivers who compromise the safety of others. This goal of this mobilization is to remind drivers to practice safe driving and make paying attention a priority.
