Are you driving safe?

December 19, 2024

NEWS RELEASE

As of late we’ve seen several different traffic pattern and signage changes to our area in addition to increased holiday traffic and unpredictable weather conditions. The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office wanted to take a moment to express the importance of paying complete attention to your driving and watching for those changes. Even though most drivers would admit they’ve ignored or failed to obey traffic laws at some point in time, there’s no argument obeying traffic laws is a much safer alternative than possibly being involved in a crash.

It’s as simple as watching for and adhering to all traffic laws and signage. This would include marking on the roadway, roadside and overhead. Stopping and Yielding appropriately, signaling your intentions, and obeying the speed limit will greatly reduce your risk of being in a crash. Don’t be an impatient or aggressive driver that puts risk to everyone on the road.

While there is constant debate on proper driving habits and what traffic control devices should or shouldn’t be in place, at the end of the day obeying the traffic laws and signage in place and paying complete attention to your driving should be a priority. Wearing your seatbelt and taking advantage of the safety systems in your vehicle at all times goes without saying. Slow down for inclement weather and plan extra time to get where you are going.
