UPDATED NEWS RELEASE
RE: Body recovered from Snake River
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding a body that was recovered in the Snake River on Monday afternoon. Detectives have identified the victim as 28 year old Juan Manuel Romano Manilla, of Idaho Falls.
Preliminary information suggests Mr. Manilla had been living homeless along the Snake River and other areas in Idaho Falls and the cause of death appears to be by drowning. Deputies and the Bonneville County Coroners Office are currently in the process of an autopsy to confirm those findings.
As Deputies continue to investigate Mr. Manilla’s activities leading up to his death, they are asking anyone who may have known him or had interactions with him to contact the Sheriff’s Office through dispatch at 208-529-1200.
