NEWS RELEASE
Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies remind everyone celebrating the holiday season to do so responsibly. With the help of the Idaho Office of Highway Safety, our Deputies have teamed up with Law Enforcement around the state to mobilize and remove impaired drivers off our roads.
With an increase in holiday travel and changing winter road conditions, it’s more important than ever to avoid getting behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking or using illegal drugs. More than a third of Idaho’s fatalities have involved impaired drivers, tragedies that potentially could’ve been avoided if there was a little planning and a smart choice to do the responsible thing.
With this mobilization, extra Deputies will be on our roads looking for and responding to reports of intoxicated drivers. Over the past few months our agency has regularly responded to impaired driving crashes and traffic stops, making a number of DUI arrests along the way. Our teams are dedicated to promoting safe and sober driving habits, especially during the holiday season.
If you suspect someone is impaired, be a good witness and call your local Law Enforcement to respond.
