Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies have concluded the investigation into the death of Cory Nichols, who was discovered on January 22nd west of Idaho Falls on a farm. Autopsy results and analysis of known evidence indicate Mr. Nichols died from prolonged exposure to the cold. Toxicology information indicated the presence of alcohol and drugs in Mr. Nichols system but no indication of foul play.
Deputies determined Mr. Nichols had been trespassed from the Shakas Gas Station on Grandview Dr. in Idaho Falls after attempting to get a bus ticket. Nichols was last seen leaving that location on foot and possibly walked to where he was later found west of Idaho Falls.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man found Monday west of Idaho Falls near 17th S. and 75th W. The victim was identified as 37 year old Cory Nichols and believed to be homeless in our area. An autopsy has been scheduled and the investigation is still ongoing.
Deputies are asking for the public’s help in identifying anyone who may have had contact with Mr. Nichols between Jan. 6th and Jan. 22nd or anywhere he may have frequented. RE: Suspicious Death Investigation
Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies are currently investigating a suspicious death discovered west of Idaho Falls yesterday afternoon (Jan. 22). Just after 3pm emergency personnel were sent to a farm field near 75th W. and 17th S. when workers discovered a deceased man on the property.
Deputies and Idaho Falls Ambulance Personnel arrived, finding the victim had been deceased for an indeterminate amount of time and began processing the scene. Currently investigators are working to confirm the identity of the victim and ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death.
This investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
