Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies often field questions from parents in our community about how to keep their children safe on the internet. For a number of years now, our team has participated with other local Law Enforcement agencies in the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force through the Idaho Attorney General’s Office. Having a Detective attached to the ICAC Task Force has been a big help in providing answers to those questions and pointing parents toward useful resources. The task force has been instrumental in intercepting criminal activity over the internet that exploits underage child victims in our area.
This month we are helping our ICAC Task Force partners and the Online Child Exploitation Prevention Initiative promote internet safety, emphasizing today as being Safer Internet Day and posting the 10 best practices for Internet Safety Programs. Additionally, helpful safety information and resources can be found on the ICAC Task Force Website in the Internet Safety tab at www.icactaskforce.org/internetsafety.
